EXHIBITION OF THE PODCAST ‘NO PAÍS DOS ARQUITECTOS’

  • Between the first and third season of the podcast ‘No País dos Arquitectos’, Building Pictures showcased projects such as the Lisbon Cruise Terminal, the renewal of the Bolhão Market, the Castilho 203 building, the Grândola’s Library and Municipal Archive, the refurbishment of the Gulbenkian gardens, the Royal Treasure Museum, the EDP building, the Municipal Stadium of Braga, the Imaculada and Cheia de Graça chapels, the Interpretation Centre of Romanesque, among others. The buildings covered in the episodes are great projects that we have all heard about and that are part of the day-to-day life of our cities. However, we often pass by these buildings and know little or nothing about them and what motivated certain architectural decisions. Through these conversations - about the processes, the people behind the processes, the challenges inherent in each project, the choice of certain materials, constructive innovations, the stories of cities, and great projects - the podcast wishes to inspire people to make better decisions for their homes, streets, landscapes, cities and, consequently, for the world. During these episodes, we had conversations with national and international architects both: João Luís Carrilho da Graça, João Mendes Ribeiro, Ricardo Bak Gordon, Kengo Kuma, Manuel Aires Mateus, Eduardo Souto de Moura, Marcio Kogan, Adriana Floret, Gonçalo Byrne and other great architects. These sharings aim to emphasize the role of architects and architecture. At the same time, these conversations raise awareness among civil society about the importance of architecture in the quality of people's life. Over three seasons – full of stories and discussions about architecture, cities, and the way we dwell in the world – it became clear, through the various projects, the valuable contribution of architects in building a better world. And as the architect João Luís Carrilho da Graça mentioned in the first episode: “It is this spirit that I always have. In other words, trying to make those interventions made by architects contribute to a better city for everyone.” The podcast has 40 episodes, with more than 28,000 listeners, in 64 countries, including architects and non-architects. The fourth season will premiere on October 3rd. Everyone who wants to listen to or replay some of these conversations and architectural projects can do it here: www.buildingpictures.pt/pt/podcast-no-pais-dos-arquitectos
